I’m John Dixon — welcome to Electric Life.
I’ve lived in Burlington, Ontario for the past 28 years with my wife, Carole, who now drives a Hyundai Ioniq 5. We’ve raised two wonderful adult children here, and I’m proud to be “Papa” to two energetic, hilarious grandkids who remind me every day what we’re fighting for when it comes to a cleaner, more sustainable future.
For over 35 years, I worked in the automotive industry — most of it running my own company, Autoloyalty, where I focused on loyalty marketing and training for auto dealers across Canada. I’ve seen the evolution of the auto world firsthand, and I’ve never been more excited than I am now about the shift to electric.
In 2012, I bought my first Tesla — a Model S Signature — and that changed everything. I eventually owned 7 different Teslas.
That passion led me to found the Tesla Owners Club of Ontario Inc. (TOCO), which grew into one of Canada’s most active EV communities, with over 1000 members and 20 sponsors.
What makes me most proud is that TOCO wasn’t just about cars — we gave back. Over the years, we supported charities like:
• Feed Ontario
• Tree Canada
• Food and Toy Drives supporting local families
TOCO has now wound down and I am currently a director of the EV Society of Canada.
I also created the Rivian Owners Ontario Facebook group — another great space where EV owners connect, share insights, and occasionally swap stories from the road.
Electric Life is my personal platform to share stories, tips, and insights from this electric journey — not just about EVs, but about everything electric and sustainable. From clean tech to smarter living, this is where ideas spark change.
Thanks for stopping by. Let’s drive the change — together.
